The GTA strives to help build businesses that regardless of industry are operated in a manner that is green and sustainable while... contributing to the economy.

We call the GTA model Systems Transformation Sustainable Economies(TM) or the STSE model(TM).  This model is being used to create a "mission in action" organization that is the Green Technology Alliance.

The GTA movement and the GTA economic revolution is really about demonstrating the value of sustainable economies and proving that we can create actionable business policies, practices and methodologies that sustain our planet.

Objectives

Create a Green Center of Innovation

Provide the resources to build businesses that sustain, grow, and expand the economy based on green technologies.   Establish GTA headquarters in Austin to help position the region as a top center of technology innovation and commercialization in the green technology sector, worth an estimated 1 billion dollars by 2012.

    Green Technology Alliance

What is the specific mission of the GTA?

The mission of the GTA is to accelerate the adoption of green, clean and sustainable business practices, technologies and solutions.

What is the specific purpose of the GTA?

The specific purpose of the GTA is to accelerate the adoption of existing and emerging Green Technologies

What are the goals of the GTA?

The GTA will focus on creating the infrastructure, venues, support and knowledge base to accelerate the adoption of both existing and emerging green technologies by working to accomplish four interrelated goals:

1.    Showcase and develop the green technologies of today and tomorrow.

2.    Create the strategies required to deploy real solutions that deliver an immediate business benefit to the companies that invest in Green technologies; such as reduced costs, improved efficiency and greater productivity.

3.    Enable and accelerate the adoption of new technologies to create jobs and promote economic development in both the public and private sector.

4.    Develop a reproducible sustainable economies model (the STSE model) based on the principles of a true alliance that not only supports our economy and planet but sustains it.

What are the specific target goals of the GTA?

Our first year goal is 300 members and 25% of those certified as at least one of the following:

1.    A Green Certified Organization the GCO(TM)

2.    As a Green IT Managed Organization the GITMO(TM)

3.    Their products, services, software and or hardware GTA Certified(TM)

Is the GTA Texas based/focused or broader?

The first chapter will be here in Austin, over the next year we will be rolling out GTA regional chapters in other cities and countries.

What can be done today?

Showcase existing and emerging Green Technologies that provide strategies and solutions for the issues facing our planet and economy.

What needs to happen tomorrow?

Enable and accelerate the adoption of new and existing green technologies for the purpose of creating jobs and promoting economic development in both the public and private sector.

How it needs to happen?

The GTA will create an industry driven, community leveraged alliance that provides programs of value across four key areas. Those four key areas of focus will drive the razors edge deliverables that provide value across these critical areas of high leverage and impact that will in turn deliver on the purpose and objectives of the Green Technology Alliance.

What is the first year objective of the GTA?

The initial one year objective of the GTA is to create an industry driven, value leveraged alliance for the sole purpose of accelerating the adoption of existing and emerging Green Technologies.  Our initial focus is in the Information Technology sector.  This focus on the high leverage high impact area of IT will enable the GTA to demonstrate in a measurable capacity that creating sustainable economies is not only possible but actionable and more importantly attainable.

Through this focused "mission in action" approach that we will be able to demonstrate that "going green" creates "green".  In other words, being socially conscious and responsible delivers measurable impact on the third P (profit) of the triple bottom line (TBL) of the People, Planet, and Profit model.

In order to deliver on this objective the GTA is focusing on a two prong approach; what can be done today and what needs to happen tomorrow.

GTA FOUR KEY AREAS OF FOCUS...

Green In Your Backyard: Green Technology Showcase (building awareness)

Go Green Machine: Implementing Green Organization Management(TM) and Best Practices in Green Technology Assessment and Deployment  Green IT Managed Organization(TM) (implementing effectively)

Turning Green into Green: The innovative power of the entrepreneur and the nitty gritty of how to effectively seed and commercialize technologies In the green space (evaluating and launching emerging technologies)

Planting the Seed for Growth: The art and science of collaboration-- cultivating customers, industry partners and community resources as valued elements of an organizational alliance to accelerate time to market and adoption of green technologies.  (green tech accelerator)

How will the GTA build this broad spectrum knowledge base and processes?

The GTA founders have extensive background, experience and education in building structures and processes that enable large groups of individuals to create and disseminate knowledge from the diversity of those individuals, groups and organizations.  We will use events, technology, websites and publications to create, develop and disseminate the required knowledge and processes to showcase, educate and implement sustainable practices across the stakeholder spectrum.

In addition, the launch team that helped develop the core mission, objectives and target programs of the GTA brings substantial experience and more importantly success in our fours key areas of focus.  Finally and most importantly, the founding organizational members and partners cover a broad spectrum of the targeted stakeholder pool and represent a significant source of knowledge, skills support and best practices to draw from.

What are the elements of the GTA?

The elements of the GTA are essentially representative areas of focus starting with what is required for an effective organization whose mission is to drive the accelerated adoption of green technologies.  When we developed the requirements, plan and business model for the GTA we wanted to use a market driven innovation based process that would identify what kind of organization was actually needed.  So we worked from the baseline through to the results required and in doing so we were able to create an innovative value driven organization with the flexibility and structure to effectively respond to market needs.

Our elements start with the response required to meet the challenges and opportunities of a sustainable economic model that intends to drive economic value, such as action, purpose, values and leadership.  The elements are then broken down into core challenges and needs relative to green and sustainability which in turn drive the next set of required elements-- awareness, and our models and programs. The elements of awareness, as well as, the models and programs that are required then create the key pieces that form the action and implementation elements of the GTA, such as educate, evaluate, launch and deploy.  The GTA used an integrated innovation process to create a results driven organization that identified our required structure, as well as, models, programs and initiatives.  In addition, the process identified next steps and results for the stakeholders from a local and global perspective.

Is the GTA For-Profit or Not-for-Profit?

Both... because we desire to help educate and train all size organizations and individuals on how to build sustainable economies we believe the GTA should be a for-profit corporation to help demonstrate the business model as well as to keep OUR focus on the programs and initiatives that drive business success.  We want the GTA to succeed in the market economy.

However, some elements of what the GTA is doing; such as, supporting business development and the emerging countries work require a sister 501c3 GTA Foundation chartered to develop and create technology accelerators (different but similar model to an incubator) as well as programs that support SMB, minority and women owned business development.  In addition, workforce development and education will become more and more important as this movement becomes standard practice so the 501c3 will also work with partners and existing channels of education to create workforce development programs that can be deployed in first world as well as in emerging counties

What is the interest in this initiative?

Our soft launch a month ago had 400 hits in 18 hours to our registration site alone with a free PR and email to a limited list of about 300 people.  Today after less than a month, we now have over 1000 people in our database representing over 700 organizations and 4 countries.  Many of those have expressed interest in membership or corporate sponsorship.  Only one free PR and a simple beta website with only 2 newsletters and one event announcement have been distributed.

How do you differ from other similar green industry alliance organizations like Green Grid?

Green Grid is a development standards oriented group with a datacenter focus... from website.  "The Green Grid is a global consortium dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems.  In furtherance of its mission, The Green Grid is focused on the following: defining meaningful, user-centric models and metrics; developing standards, measurement methods, processes and new technologies to improve data center performance against the defined metrics; and promoting the adoption of energy efficient standards, processes, measurements and technologies."

Climate Savers is an organization designed to get companies to reduce carbon emissions... from website.  First the GTA is an affiliate partner of Climate Savers, our missions are complementary.  "Started by Google and Intel in 2007, the Climate Savers Computing Initiative is a nonprofit group of eco-conscious consumers, businesses and conservation organizations. The Initiative was started in the spirit of WWF's Climate Savers program which has mobilized over a dozen companies since 1999 to cut carbon dioxide emissions, demonstrating that reducing emissions is good business. Our goal is to promote development, deployment and adoption of smart technologies that can both improve the efficiency of a computer's power delivery and reduce the energy consumed when the computer is in an inactive state. As participants in the Climate Savers Computing Initiative, computer and component manufacturers commit to producing products that meet specified power-efficiency targets, and corporate participants commit to purchasing power-efficient computing products."
