GTA Founder to aid in Business Development for CORFO and INNOVA Chile. Heath will act as a strategic consultant for the international commercialization program which is part of the Chilean Economic Development Agency (CORFO), and its Innovation Committee (INNOVA Chile). Heath Naquin has been engaged to support business development for a variety of companies and technologies. The program is part of a larger effort coordinated by the University of Texas Global Commercialization Group (part of the IC² Institute) to develop an “industry” for technology incubation and business acceleration management. This initiative is part of an “offset” program designed in collaboration with Lockheed Martin Aerospace and the Chilean government, the goal of which is to build cooperative, action-oriented programs focused on technology incubation, commercialization and business acceleration. Heath will be focused on developing key commercialization contacts in the US and global market for technologies from this program.
Supporting global commercialization projects is a critical success factor for the GTA. International collaboration centered on innovation, technology transfer and commercialization is fundamental to increasing the adoption of green, clean and sustainable technologies. — Michelle Naquin, Green Technology Alliance, Chief Executive Officer.
The Chilean project is just one of many international benchmarking programs the IC² Institute supports in order to provide knowledge transfer on effective innovation and technology commercialization in both the US and global marketplace.
Through funding provided by Lockheed Martin, the GCG is working with the Chilean Economic Development Organization (CORFO) on a nation-wide program to develop an “industry” of technology incubation and international business acceleration management. The program assesses selected Chilean incubators and trains incubator managers, CORFO staff and entrepreneurs through hands-on training, workshops and business development activities. Training topics include: technology screening and assessment, technology business development, and international commercialization and incubator management. Additionally, the program provides assessments and selection of Chilean technologies, and provides international business development of those technologies by matching Chilean enterprises with business opportunities outside Chile in order to produce cooperative agreements and open new markets and opportunities for Chilean companies.
